Community Work Services can point with pride to
any number of program participants who have benefited from both
the help and guidance they’ve received from CWS and from their own
willfulness and determination to create successful lives. We are
delighted to share some of their stories with you.

| William Souza
first came to Community Work Services in February 2006 to
explore his interests and try out his skills related to
facilities maintenance and housekeeping in the Commercial
Cleaning Program. He had been out of work for a year and
was committed to rejoining the workforce as soon as
possible. With more than two decades of work experience
under his belt, including 17 years performing different |

machine-operating positions, Bill was clearly capable of proving
himself a valuable worker. At that time, he only hoped an
opportunity would arise.
At CWS, site supervisors and other program staff immediately
were impressed by Bill’s upbeat and helpful manner. He was
eager to learn janitorial skills and worked hard to master
everything presented to him. He soon proved to be a skilled
cleaning professional, and his supervisors even utilized him
as a role model for new participants in the cleaning program.
Within two months, Bill was selected by his supervisors for a
sought-after internship at the National Park Service
building. At his internship, Bill demonstrated excellent work
habits and excelled in all of his tasks. Working with the CWS
placement team to find competitive employment, Bill was hired
by Bertucci’s Brick Oven Ristorante as a Utility Worker in
October 2006.
Now with more than six months on the job, Bill is a respected
member of the Bertucci’s staff and enjoying his success. |
